EyeCanDo was started as a hackathon project in the Mount Sinai Health Hackathon 2018 for rare diseases, led by the Lab of Data Management and Biomedical Data Analytics (read the news). The project was funded by the ALS Assocation in December 2019 to make it available to the public. In December 2021, DOD CDMRP funded the project to provide integrative multi-modal based communication by combining eye gaze and brain computer interfaces powered by AI.
